Setting up Paypal as an additional payment option on the Run Free Platform is easy.

To start, you'll need to create API credentials in your PayPal Business Account in order to receive payments:

PayPal Settings

  1. Log in to the Developer Dashboard with your PayPal Business account.

  2. Under the DASHBOARD menu, select My Apps & Credentials.

  3. Select the LIVE Toggle, then select Create App.

  4. Enter your store name or whatever you'd like to call your "app".

  5. Copy both your Client ID and Secret Key to a blank document or notepad. You'll need to paste these into your Run Free Settings Page in a later step.

    1. EXAMPLES:

      1. CLIENT ID: ATPT1RNO1jMiAk_BoDTbKlkLK89KJ12121KJKs3Wxan_mciSPbjs5hBt8SxVF6hT_JDJ0_932sdsvsk

      2. SECRET KEY: EDL6PV1I9JKLJ9890HDJKDH2121QOIOXX0892XNXKN239029KX2984903DKWJDLKJ239023SKPGFcio

  6. Scroll down to Live App Settings and check the Log in with Paypal checkbox, and tap Save.

  7. You'll notice PayPal requires you to enter a Live return URL. Substitute your store's domain for the first part of the example below and enter it in the field. Tap Save Again.

    1. EXAMPLE: https://shop.yourstoresdomain.com/success

Great Work! With these new credentials, you're ready to turn on Paypal for your store.

Run Free Platform Settings

Navigate back to your Run Free Platform dashboard. In the upper right corner, click the settings icon and choose integrations from the dropdown as shown below:

Once you're on the Integrations page, choose the PayPal tab on the left side of the screen. To turn PayPal on, flip the toggle switch on the right to On as shown in the image below:

Once you toggle PayPal on, you'll see two fields. One for the Client ID and one for the Secret Key (labelled PayPal Secret) that you copied from the previous section. Paste each into their respective fields on this screen, and tap save.

That's it! Now, if you navigate back to your storefront, add an item to your cart, and progress to the payment page, you'll see the PayPal button is now offered as a payment option.

Selecting this option and tapping pay will guide users to complete their transaction on the PayPal site and then redirect back to the success page upon completion.

PayPal will also be listed as the payment in the upper left of the order view in your Run Free Admin.

Note: As PayPal is a completely separate payment provider from your usual payment gateway (Stripe, etc) any customer refunds will need to be initiated via your PayPal account.
