When Run Free Project connects to your Shopify to send relay products and inventory, if the UPCs for those products are already in your Shopify, then the relay products and quantities will slot into the existing product/variant on Shopify that the UPC is associated with.
If the UPC for the relay product is not already in Shopify, then relay for Shopify will create a separate product listing in Shopify for that product.
If you need to combine products on the Shopify side follow these steps:
Get the Shopify product ID for the product you want to merge into.
In the products section of Shopify, search for and select the product you want to merge into. This will be the product that stays after the merge and receives the variants from the products you are merging.
Once the product you want to merge into is selected, click in the URL bar at the top of your browser the get the Shopify ID for that product.
Copy that product ID.
Enter the product ID from step 1 in the Merge target product id field on the product you want to merge.
In the products section of Shopify, search for and select the product you want to merge. This will be the product that is disappearing after the merge.
Once the product you want to merge is selected, scroll down to the Metafields section.
Enter the Shopify ID for the product you want to merge into in the Merge target product id field.
Save the product.
Let the nightly sync run and move the variants from the product you want to merge into the product you are merging into.
After completing the steps above, let the nightly sync run to complete the merge process and move the variants from the products you are merging into the products you are merging into.
