What is a "Shipping Template"?

Shipping Templates make it easy to individually (or bulk-assign) a size, weight, and optional price to a shippable item. Since a majority of items fall into a few simple size categories, this allows you to add these properties in bulk without having to enter these properties on each SKU individually.

Bulk Shipping: Should you choose to set your store preference to "Bulk Shipping" on your Store Settings page, all shipping will be calculated based on the dollar amount of the assigned shipping template. You also have the option of assigning an additional handling fee at the store level should you so choose.

Example: Bettie Sue orders 3 pairs of shoes via your Digital Storefront. Since you've set bulk shipping as your default, her shipping cost will be calculated based on the assigned templates for those shoes. In this case, let's assume all 3 pairs have the same size and weight, thus use the same template with a per-item cost of $7 assigned. Her shipping would be QTY: 3 x $7 = $21 in Calculated Bulk Shipping.

USPS Shipping Calulator: Should you choose to set your store preference to "USPS Shipping" on your Store Settings page, all shipping will be calculated using the USPS shipping calculation engine (a USPS application that the Run Free platform communicates with behind the scenes) to determine the cost. This option is utilizing the assigned shipping templates' weight and size, in addition to the location details from your store and the customers' destination address to auto-calculate a rough cost. Selecting this option doesn't mean you have to ship via USPS. You're still welcome to use other shipping methods, in this case, you're just utilizing the calculation engine to determine a rough cost more accurately.

Adding/Editing a Shipping Template

Tap the "Add Template" button, or select edit in the action menu, to pop the Template Detail Modal. Start by entering an estimated size and weight, based on the shipping box, for this item. Optionally you can set a shipping cost for bulk shipping and or toggle the template as a default for all new items.
