Guest checkout lets customers check out without creating an account, making it faster and simpler—especially for one-time or casual shoppers.
Guest checkouts solve two of main issues that can lead to cart abandonment: mistrust in the shopping site and the need to create an account. That’s because guest checkouts drop the long sign-up process and allow customers to quickly enter only essential personal information to make a purchase.
Because a breezy checkout process can result in higher conversion rates, offering guest checkout is a no-brainer for many online businesses. Here’s what you need to know about using it successfully.
Benefits:
Less friction: Removes the barrier of account creation from checkout.
Faster checkout: Guest checkout speeds up checkout by allowing shoppers to skip sharing unnecessary personal info used for account creation.
Drawbacks:
Limited customer data: The Customer can’t track their order history unless the optional account setup is used.
No follow-up marketing: Communication ends after shipping updates unless customers opt in during optional account setup.
In short, guest checkout boosts convenience but limits data collection and marketing opportunities.
To Check Out As A Guest:
Add an item to your cart.
From the Cart page, click Checkout As Guest in the bottom right.
Enter the required Guest Checkout Details. Unlike an account-based checkout, the steps are minimized to reduce friction, omitting things like setting a password and adding a phone number, which are usually required with a full account creation. After the guest's details and address info are complete, click Continue.
Verify Address if prompted.
Choose Payment Method, enter Card number if necessary, and press Place Order.
After the Order is processed, the guest will be redirected to their orders screen, where they can optionally complete their account setup in the Don't Lose Out! section by entering a phone number and password.
